Afghan

It's coming along! Please let me know if you've got any squares done! Posted more details on the NE Asatru list, but if you don't see it there, let me know if you need more info.

Brandy, I know you have a bunch done. How many are there total?

When is the due date again? I really wanted to do this but life seems to keep getting in the way.

Depends if you can do the batting and/or quilting yourself. I think the second or third paragraph below apply for you:

Knitted, crocheted, woven or nálbinded (or fabric with crochet border) 6" x 6"

Fabric that has been batted and quilted but still needs a crochet border, 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" or smaller (design should be inside 5" x 5" if you are painting on fabric) - Need by end of June.

Fabric that has not been batted or quilted and needs a crochet border 5-3/4" x 5-3/4" or smaller including 3/4" undecorated border for finishing. (I need these FOR SURE by midsummer - that's June 20)

ABSOLUTE deadline!
If you're a last minute person, and want to block your own squares, you can bring them to ECT and sew them on to the afghan there if there's enough to make a full row (there is a chance they won't fit, and they MUST be blocked to 6 x 6)

Otherwise, send squares to me no later than July 15, blocked or unblocked - but please let me know how many you made or intend to make. I would like to lay this out by end of July to give me time to get strips started so all we have to do is get the strips sewn together at ECT. I may still be able to take some after that date, but I block only 18 squares per week, so I'd like to have them sooner than later.

I have an unfortunate feeling that I will not be getting to this in time. Life is kind of upside down at the moment. If that happens we do have to work on a project together at some point, I have a few project ideas that cross into the realms of both art and sewing/knitting.

No worries. But if you're a little later, I'll stretch the deadline for you. I was planning on putting any painted ones in the middle, but they could just as easily be nearer the outside (just not as visible).

And yes, it would be great to do a project together!

I'm counting 9 plus one more on the needles. I've gotten sidetracked by the next HPKCHC term starting. But, squares that are being contributed to a larger (group) project are now acceptable as homework. Long story long, with the now probability that one of my OWLs is going to fail (I think I'm going to be short on yarn) I'll be able to get a few more done between now and the deadline, especially if I do more crochet and less knitting (but I'm soooo loving the cable square that's currently holding and want to do more cables.) Would it help you if I block before giving them to you? Right now I'm planning on us coming on June 19th so I can give you what I have then. If I make more after that I'll be sure to get them to you before July 15th.

Excellent! Thanks so much! I bet the cables look marvelous. I'm glad you're planning on coming on the 19th. Maybe I'll get to use the craft supplies then! Anyway, if you bring what you have then, that would be cool. I think I may have to edge up that one long one to make it 12 inches long by 6 inches wide so it will count as two squares. We'll take a look when it's on the blocking board.

If you want to block them before you give them to me, that would be cool. I know most people don't like to block, or just don't bother, so that's why I said I'd do all the blocking.

Hope to see you soon!
